Our WORLD is Turning A New Leaf

I was born and raised in the capital city of Australia,
Canberra.
In 1996 I completed Year 12 and prepared to really get to know the WORLD.
My guidance was clear, go to the Gold Coast and get into business. It was and still may be the fastest "growth" area in Australia. I have discovered my journey in the business world to be varied and unique and this being I am today is the result of my choices to serve the people of our WORLD, through who I AM, ME.
As I left school and subsequently, Canberra, I felt the political map would be redefined by the extent of our technological advancements, we would come to know our political realm aligning with WORLD leadership.
As it turned out in 1996, I turned 18 (the required age to vote) just two months after our previous Prime Minister John Howard was elected. I was disillusioned by the political process because I felt even at the age of 17.8 that I was fully capable of making a vote that counted.
A good 10 years went by in which time I returned to Canberra for my 10 year school reunion still during the time of John Howard. I felt the things I have been working on in that whole decade were just not supported by that political paradigm as we ended 1996. I definitely was disillusioned in the aspirations of sharing my gifts in the public arena...
Things Have Changed!!!
A few weeks ago I decided to check out the long-awaited and truly historical speech by Kevin Rudd whereby he apologised to the Aboriginal People for all the negative consequences of the "invasion" from the British Colony, for the "Stolen Generations" and racial prejudice that still existed up until the speech.
In the process of searching for the "Sorry speech" I came across another video of Kevin's Victory Speech on the night he won the election, which I didn't see at the time, I was celebrating the full moon with tribe near Byron Bay ~ we could feel the shift and we were proclaiming it as our victory...
In seeing this video goosebumps and shivers entered my body and I cried in happiness!! It was the first time I had cried in months!
I have decided it is worthwhile honouring this speech in my blog and giving us all the chance to listen and see for ourselves the great leader the Australian people have chosen... There are 3 parts to it:
I felt that finally this country and this world has a political leader with the potential and clear intent to listen to the people and make truly democratic decisions. I have had the good fortune to have met Kevin a few times in 2000-2001 at the time I was initiating the Adventures In Communication. What a nice surprise it has been to see him rise ;-)
I have grown a lot in that time and so has our nation and this world ... to be much more conscious and embracing of our oneness:
Here is the Sorry Speech of Kevin Rudd:
I realised when I connected with these speeches how much I also was moved to public speaking and leadership when I was at school. I was involved in school debating and went on to join Rostrum and Toastmasters.
I have included the transcript of a speech I made to Rostrum in the same week as my last exams for Year12: It is called "Australia, Australia" and I go on to outline my intent to see a new fresher younger Australia emerge.
And this time is NOW!
We are the VICTORY!
Let's share the good news with our world and let the leadership in our own lives radiate as beautiful examples to everyone in the world. When we see and experience authentic integral leadership we can not help but be moved by the opportunity this presents to us, to be the change we love to see in the world. Every one of us have unique gifts essential for this world, it is through the leadership we take in our own lives that serves the leaders of our nations.
Through our own activated voice and participation in community / society we feel the LOVE everpresent and potently receiving our choice to make this moment BETTER, the way we know we CAN!
The best we can give to our leaders, is our own leadership ;-)

Beautifully written Peace-One. I was in New Zealand when this great moment in Australian history took place and as soon as I have read your blogs, I intend to listen to the speech. Thank you for posting it on your blog.
